Artists’ Purpose
A.D.Kelley’s purpose for making art…
To pose questions regarding experiences, observations and conclusions made about the human experience that;
Is of value to the viewer / participant (intellectually, emotionally, physically, aesthetically and / or spiritually) not superficially, gratuitously.
and
Cause the viewer / participant to react through their own unique experience with critical thoughts and feelings about what they know (or think they know) about something that is in their experience.
or
Pose a new / different (experience) view of something to the viewer / participant that is (up until that point in their life) not in their experience.
Where does my "Art" exist ?…
My “Art” happens all of the time…anywhere at any time. My art is the concept, idea, inspiration, instinct, feeling, experience, or intuition (dream state) that moves me to create a work of art…This comes from a mix drives… my conscience observation of feelings or meanings, a subconscience or unconscience need to take it from the dream state into a physical reality.
My “Art” is the processes, techniques and skills used to create the art.… the acts and activities leveraged in selecting the materials, tools, subjects, brushes, palette knifes, surfaces, colors, textures in creating the drawing, painting, image, sculpture, printing plate / wood block, including the act of looking through a viewfinder, framing the composition, and selecting the settings to take the photograph or video.
My “Art” is the finished artwork made real, physically manifest and able to be encountered and percived by you.

My “Art” is you. A person's perception of, and reaction to, the finished artworks aesthetics, message, meaning, or emotions they have when encountering the finished work of art. What you perceive when looking at the finished work of art makes the artwork a unique experience in space time. Unique to you, seperate and different from what I created or intended.
I am currently fascinated with Consciousness, Time, Quantum physics - where does “reality” or “truth” exist.
I recently attended the 2025 Science of Consciousness Conference and Festival of Consciousness held in Barcelona Spain.

Consciousness, Thought and Reality

In the mind of us humans there is perception of a reality. We would like to think we live in the present. However, the perception of all things happens in our minds in the past. We live totally in the reality of our senses and our brains translation of what we sense. This translation happens after we sense it. It is then given meaning (based on our past experiences) and then acted on. All of this happens for us in a linear fashion -[on a TIMELINE]- one thing preceding another going back in time. Every action we take has been somewhat predetermined by our accumulated knowledge in our past.
In reality, there is no original thought. Just unique associations of memories, experiences and emotions we make to create an idea or belief. Every idea, belief (or question) we have is based on conclusions drawn from accumulated knowledge in our past. Other people (animals, nature, environment etc.) we interact with bring their realities [their past] into our past experiences and become part of the collective experience; our parents and immediate family (and environment) being the first things to bring their collective consciences to ours. So, the more experiences one has the larger, more complex, and richer, the common collective becomes. So, if we seek to control our futures, we would seek to control, or seek out our interactions with people and the situations we put ourselves in and what happens to us in those situations. (Like minds think alike and seek each other out).
